Group buying: wholesale pricing,
without the wholesale minimum.
Jewellery group buying is a model where individual buyers pool their orders into a single collective purchase that goes directly to the manufacturer. The result: every participant gets wholesale-level pricing regardless of what they ordered. At Quorum, we've built the infrastructure to make this seamless — from order customisation to fulfilment — so you get a bespoke, certified piece at a fraction of what you'd pay at retail.

Retail jewellery prices are built on layers of markup.
The price you pay for a diamond ring in a retail store reflects not just the cost of the stone and metal — it also covers the retailer's rent, staff, advertising, insurance, and margin. A ring with a total material cost of $800 might retail for $3,000 or more. That gap exists not because the jewellery is worth $3,000 but because the retail distribution model requires it. Wholesale buyers — large jewellery chains, department store buyers — bypass most of that markup by purchasing at volume directly from manufacturers. Individual buyers have historically had no access to that pricing, regardless of what they're willing to pay.
Your individual order becomes part of a bulk order.
Group buying solves the volume problem by aggregating individual orders. When Quorum opens a drop for, say, an emerald cut lab grown diamond pendant, individual buyers join with their specific customisations — their choice of stone size, metal, and colour. Once the group reaches its minimum target (the quantity required to unlock the manufacturer's wholesale tier), the collective order is placed. Every participant receives their individually customised piece at the wholesale price that the group as a whole unlocked. You don't need to buy ten pendants. You just need to join the group that buys ten pendants collectively.
From join to delivery — step by step.
A Quorum drop begins when we open a new group buy for a specific jewellery design. Each drop has a live order counter showing current group size, a price tier display showing where the current discount sits and what the next tier unlocks, and a countdown timer showing when the drop closes. You join by selecting your customisations and placing your order. If the group reaches its target before the drop closes, the wholesale price is locked in for all participants. If the drop reaches a higher tier, every participant automatically receives the higher discount — even if you joined early at a lower tier. Once closed, the consolidated order goes to the manufacturer. Production and delivery typically takes four to six weeks.
Lower price does not mean lower quality.
Quorum sources from the same manufacturers used by fine jewellery wholesalers. The reduction in price comes entirely from removing distributor and retailer margins — not from using inferior stones, cheaper alloys, or lower craftsmanship standards. Lab grown diamonds sold through Quorum are IGI-certified, graded on the same 4C scale as mined diamonds, set in solid gold or sterling silver, and made to your exact specification. The quality is equivalent to what you would receive from a high-end independent jeweller — at a price closer to what that jeweller pays their supplier.
The same model, with a platform built around it.
The group buy model is not new. Jewellery group buys have existed on subreddits and Facebook groups for years — communities of buyers who organise collective orders from trusted suppliers. These communities have demonstrated clear demand for the model. What they lack is infrastructure: there's no live order tracking, no formalised trust system, no polished ordering experience, and no consistency in communication. Quorum is built specifically to deliver the financial logic of the Reddit group buy — direct-to-manufacturer pricing at collective volume — with the UX, trust, and reliability of a commercial platform. Same price advantage. Far better experience.
What happens if the group doesn't reach its minimum?
If a drop closes without reaching its minimum order quantity, all participants are fully refunded. We communicate clearly throughout the drop about current group size so you can make an informed decision.
Can I customise my piece independently of other group members?
Yes. Each participant selects their own specifications — stone, cut, metal, colour. The group pools the order quantity, not the design. Your piece is made to your specification regardless of what others in the group have chosen.
Is there a risk in joining a group buy?
The primary risk is that the group doesn't reach its minimum, in which case you are refunded. If the group does proceed, your piece is made to order by an established manufacturer with quality guarantees in place.
How is Quorum different from buying on Etsy or a jewellery marketplace?
Etsy and marketplace sellers are typically retailers or small studios with their own margin built in. Quorum's model goes direct to the manufacturer and uses collective order volume to negotiate wholesale pricing — a channel those platforms don't offer.
Can I track the progress of a drop I've joined?
Yes. Every active drop has a live order counter and tier display so you can see exactly where the group stands at any time.
